THE SACRAMENT OF HOLY COMMUNION

The Lutheran Church teaches that Holy Communion is a Sacrament and should therefore be treated accordingly. The Bible tell us that Holy Communion was given as a precious gift from the Risen Lord to the Church. When we partake of the bread and wine, we are truly receiving the very body and blood of our Risen Lord Jesus. (See Matthew 26:26-28; Mark 14:22-24; Luke 22:19-20; and 1 Corinthians 11:23-26.) All baptised and confirmed Christians who believe that with the bread and wine of the Lord's Supper they also receive the body and blood of Christ are invited to partake of the Sacrament.

As Christians, The Scriptures caution us to examine our hearts before taking Holy Communion so as not to come to the Lord's Table in a careless or unbelieving manner. Instead, we come to the Lord's Table through faith with an attitude of sincere repentance. (See 1 Corinthians 11:27-29.)
